| DAY 1 Perth - Esperance (L,D). |

Entering the Darling Escarpment's eucalyptus woodlands and catching glimpses of wildlife within minutes of leaving the city, we head towards the historic town of York. Colonial buildings line the streets as we stop to admire the town's proud heritage. Continuing through the expansive fields of the wheat belt we journey to Hyden and its famous Wave Rock. Learn how this mysterious granite outcropping, sculptured by nature, along with Hippo's Yawn is steeped with aborigine culture. The tour proceeds past the 120* meridian (WA time) towards Esperance and the Southern Ocean's spectacular coastline. We travel the Great Ocean Drive for a brief taste of what tomorrow has to offer before checking in our hostel accommodation. Check out the town or go fishing from the town jetty and maybe see Sammy the sea lion!

- Climb Frenchman's Peak*.
- Walk Thistle Cove's Nature Trail.
Prepare to be amazed this morning! Cape Le Grande awaits a day of wonder, adventure and unbelievable scenery. We head for Lucky Bay, arguably one of Australia's best beaches. See the kangaroos and stroll the squeaky clean sands. Walk the nature trail to Thistle Cove to witness stunning panoramas and abundant wildlife then cool off in the pristine aquamarine waters of Hellfire Beach. Relax now but after lunch we climb Frenchman's Peak. From the ocean carved caves the 260m summit offers sweeping views of the park and beyond. It has been a full day as we return to our accommodation. Towards days end, we can visit the town lookout to view the beautiful Recherche Archipelago before feasting on an Aussie BBQ. Kangaroo anyone?

Today, as we make our way towards Western Australia's first settlement, Albany, it is all about the regions unique ecosystems. First up is the Biosphere of the Fitzgerald River National Park, Internationally recognised as "the most important Mediterranean ecosystem in the world". (Wildflower season only) We head for the coast, looking for Southern Right whales (winter season) and travel the scenic route to lunch. After lunch we enjoy the nature trails of Two Peoples Bay that meander throughout this sanctuary to yet another amazing beach. Heading for Albany town, we visit the many attractions of Albany's spectacular Middleton Beach & King George Sound, a stunning natural harbour best viewed from the Mount Clarence lookout. Hostel accommodation for tonight.

Today we follow the coastal road which skirt's King George Sound on our way to Frenchman's Bay. Here we explore amazing coastal rock formations known as 'The Gap', 'Natural Bridge' and the spectacular Blowholes, umbrellas are optional! Its then on to the delightful Town of Denmark located on the edge of the massive Karri and Tingle Tree Forests which dominate this part of WA. Why not follow in the steps of the early pioneers and take a refreshing swim at Greens Pool a natural water feature set amongst the rocks. From here we continue to the Valley of the Giants by taking a stroll along the elevated Tree Top Walk an engineering marvel allowing visitors to experience the unique eco system. We journey on through pristine National Parks to our pre-arranged Budget accommodation in Pemberton. Enjoy a delicious BBQ and campfire atmosphere.

He you have a chance to go on a 3hr whale watching cruise in the Southwest (optional extra $40)
After an early start, we journey to the famous Augusta Margaret River region where the mighty Indian and Southern Oceans meet. It`s now time for some serious whale watching. Boarding our vessel the 'Whale Watcher' a 50 seat catamaran we head out into Flinders Bay to witness the spectacular sight of Humpback whales migrating from their feeding grounds in Antarctica. 'Whale Watcher' allows unrestricted views of these magnificent mammals in total comfort and safety. For those who are not keen on the whales, you can visit one off the vast networks of caves in the region. Following lunch, we continue on through Margaret River. Where we make a brief stop at the local cheese and chocolate shop, before a leisurely return to Perth arriving at approxiamately 7.30pm.

Awaking to a wonderful misty southwest morning, we rise early to the sights of Kangaroos and Emus which are abundant in the area. Heading North West, we journey to the famous wine and surfing region of Augusta & Margaret River. Check out the surf at Prevelly beach home of the world famous WA Masters Surf Championships. Then we have a walk through Margaret River Town before we continue to the chocolate company for some tasting. Then it's the Wardan Centre a purpose built visitor's centre where we learn about the habits and lifestyles of the early Aboriginals called the Wardandi people; Hear about the amazing 'bushcraft' skills used by these people who thrived in the district for thousands of years as they take you on a bush trail. After lunch, we enjoy wine tasting at an exclusive winery. It's then onto the world famous Busselton Jetty. The longest wooden jetty in the southern hemisphere. Our tour is coming to an end and before we say our goodbyes we have one last stop at Bunbury dolphin discovery centre sitting on the edge of Koombana bay and who knows we may see a dolphin cruise by. Next stop Perth city arriving back at around 7.00pm.
